Bombing of Pearl Harbor
Bombing of Pearl Harbor
America was very isolated during this war. People were at two opposing sides of the isolationist debate. They finally began to edge toward war. The election was over; Roosevelt was in charge. He said that Britain was fighting for democracy and the United States had to help.
To hinder Japanese aggression, Roosevelt began applying economic pressure. Japan depended on the United States for many key materials. Congress gave the president the power to restrict the sale of strategic materials.
When Japan attacked Pearl Harbor it led the United States to declare war on Japan. America was now part of WWII.
